Jordan Schmidt shattered a school record and qualified for Saturday's final to lead the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee track & field team in the first day of action at the NCAA West Regional at John McDonnell Field.Schmidt finished second in his heat of the 400m hurdles and posted the 15th fastest time overall at 51.32, smashing the school record of 51.72. Schmidt earned his place in Friday's final among the top-24 runners in the region. The top 12 will advance to the NCAA Championships in Eugene, Ore. June 11-14.
